Beard Transplant Winchester

Get back to a great beard

Last Reviewed: 10 September 2026

A beard transplant thickens patchy areas or shapes a new beard line using your own permanent hair. For Winchester patients the price is a fixed £2,899, 5☆ rated and all-inclusive with no hidden extras, delivered in a single day by GMC-registered surgeons at CQC-registered clinics. A few photographs and a free video consultation are enough for a clear plan and an honest answer on suitability.

A Beard Transplant for Winchester Patients with My Hair UK

For Winchester patients the process is built to be simple: a free consultation with the surgeon who would carry out your procedure, by video from home or in-person at the clinic, then a plan and fixed price agreed in writing, and the surgery itself completed in a single day under local anaesthetic. Nothing is committed until you have seen exactly what your beard needs and what it costs.

The procedure is FUE applied to the face: individual follicular units are moved from the permanent donor area at the back and sides of your scalp into the cheeks, jawline, moustache or chin. The transplanted hair behaves like beard hair from then on, and it lasts, because donor hair keeps its permanence wherever it is placed. Our beard restoration guide covers the surgery itself in more depth.

The typical case is not a full beard from nothing. It is patchy cheeks, thin sideburns, a moustache that does not join the chin, or gaps that make a beard look untidy at every length. Genetic patchiness does not fill in on its own, and our guide to fixing a patchy beard explains why the non-surgical options rarely close the gap.

Cost

Beard Transplant Cost in Winchester

£2,899 is the complete price of a beard transplant for Winchester patients: one fixed, all-inclusive fee agreed in writing before surgery, whatever the number of grafts placed on the day. UK beard work is widely quoted anywhere from £3,000 to £7,000 depending on graft count, so a fixed fee at this level is deliberately competitive, and it means a bigger plan never carries a penalty.

The fee covers everything attached to the day itself: the surgeon and surgical team, anaesthetic, clinic facilities, aftercare products and your follow-up reviews. What the price includes and how it compares is set out in full on our beard transplant cost page.

How a Beard Transplant Works

The procedure runs in a single day under local anaesthetic. You are awake throughout, and most patients find the numbing injections the only uncomfortable part. Grafts are extracted individually from the donor area of the scalp, then placed one at a time at the flat angle beard hair naturally grows, following a design agreed with you before surgery starts.

The design stage matters more in beard work than anywhere else, because every line is on show. Before anything is placed, the surgeon draws the cheek line, jawline, neckline and moustache join directly onto your face and agrees it with you. Single-hair grafts go along the outlines, where the eye is most sensitive, so the edges look grown rather than drawn. You go home the same day.

How Many Grafts Does a Beard Transplant Take?

Recovery-Timeline

Beard Transplant Recovery Timeline

The healing pattern is predictable. Fine dotted scabbing for the first week or two, mild redness that fades over the following weeks, and a shedding phase between weeks two and eight when the transplanted hairs fall out while the follicles stay put. The two patient photographs here show the difference a fortnight makes: small scabs at each graft the day after surgery, then clear skin with mild redness once they have dropped off at two weeks. New growth begins around month three and the final result settles between nine and twelve months.

The shaving rules are simple: nothing for two weeks, trimming after that, and a normal wet shave from around a month once the grafts are secure. Aftercare products are included in the price, and we have regular monthly check-ins with you to ensure your growth is progressing and offer free 6 & 12 month follow up consultations with your surgeon either by video or in-person.

Clinic Locations and Travel From Winchester

Winchester to London Waterloo is 61 minutes on the fastest South Western Railway trains, three an hour, and Waterloo sits on the Bakerloo line, one train from Kenton, so the Harrow clinic is a comfortable half day from Alfred’s city. The Manchester clinic holds the same CQC registration for Winchester patients, and CrossCountry’s Bournemouth to Manchester trains call at Winchester hourly, so it is one train there too.

Whether home is Badger Farm, Abbotts Barton, Harestock or Highcliffe, in the city where Jane Austen is buried and the M3 cutting through Twyford Down held up the motorway until 1995, fresh from a show at the Theatre Royal on Jewry Street, the Wayfarer’s Dole at the Hospital of St Cross or the 1382 quadrangles of Winchester College, book a free consultation with our trichology team, in person or by video call, and receive a tailored beard plan for Winchester patients with the fixed £2,899 price confirmed in writing.

Travel

From Winchester to My Hair UK London (Harrow) Clinic

By Train

South Western Railway runs from Winchester to London Waterloo three times an hour, the fastest in 61 minutes via Basingstoke and Woking, from a two-platform station that opened in 1839 and was Winchester City until 1967, when the Great Western’s Chesil station on the other side of town had gone; older residents still say City. At Waterloo follow the signs to the Bakerloo line and ride north to Kenton, checking the front of the train for Harrow and Wealdstone rather than a short working; the Harrow clinic is a five-minute walk from Kenton station, the last leg of the journey from Winchester.

By Car

Driving from Winchester takes around 1 hour 45 minutes. Junction 11 is the only one of Winchester’s three M3 junctions with every turn available; the M3 north-east to its end at Junction 12 of the M25, the Thorpe interchange, then clockwise to Junction 16 at Denham for the A40 towards Northolt and the A409 up into Harrow and Kenton Lane. When the western M25 is solid, the A34 north from Junction 9 to the M4 at Newbury and east to Junction 15 of the M25 trades miles for different traffic.

From Winchester to My Hair UK Manchester Clinic

By Train

CrossCountry’s Bournemouth to Manchester service calls at Winchester hourly and runs through to Manchester Piccadilly in around four hours via Reading, Oxford and Birmingham New Street, with no change to make. The clinic is at the top of Deansgate near Victoria, a mile from Piccadilly, so allow fifteen to twenty minutes on foot through the centre or take a tram to Victoria and walk the last five minutes.

By Car

By car from Winchester allow around four hours. The A34 from Junction 9 of the M3 at Winnall, north past Newbury and Oxford to Junction 9 of the M40, the M40 and M42 round Birmingham to Junction 4 of the M6, then the M6 all the way to Junction 21A at Croft for the M62, the M60 at Junction 12 and the M602 into Salford, with Trinity Way bringing you round to the top of Deansgate.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

1. How much does a beard transplant cost in Winchester?

£2,899 for Winchester patients, as a single fixed price whatever the number of grafts, up to the 3,500 that can safely be placed in one day. The price is agreed before surgery and nothing is added on the day.

2. Where would I go for my surgery from Winchester?

Surgery takes place at CQC-registered partner clinics in central Manchester and Harrow, north-west London, and for most Winchester patients London (Harrow) is the practical choice. It is a single day of surgery, so it is one travel day, and your consultation happens first, by video from home or in-person at the clinic if you prefer.

3. What hair is used for a beard transplant?

Your own scalp hair, taken from the permanent donor area at the back and sides of the head. It matches beard hair closely in texture, and it keeps its permanence once moved to the face.

4. Is a beard transplant painful?

Not during surgery: the face and donor area are fully numbed under local anaesthetic, and the numbing injections themselves are what most patients describe as the only uncomfortable moment. Afterwards any soreness is mild and short-lived.

5. Do I need to visit a clinic for a beard transplant consultation?

Only if you would like to: an in-person consultation at the clinic is always available. Most consultations are held by video with the surgeon who would perform your procedure, based on photographs you send in advance, and they are free either way. Winchester patients typically only travel once, on the day of surgery.

6. Can you transplant into alopecia areata in the beard?

No responsible surgeon transplants into active alopecia barbae, because the same process can attack the transplanted follicles. If your patches appeared suddenly as smooth round spots, get a diagnosis first. Stable genetic patchiness, by contrast, is the standard beard transplant case.

7. Can I still shave my head after a beard transplant?

At very short clipper lengths the FUE dot marks in the donor area can show faintly, as with any FUE procedure. At a grade two or longer they are hidden for the vast majority of patients. The beard area itself heals without visible scarring.
