A beard transplant thickens patchy areas or shapes a new beard line using your own permanent hair. For Cambridge patients the price is a fixed £2,899, 5☆ rated and all-inclusive with no hidden extras, delivered in a single day by GMC-registered surgeons at CQC-registered clinics. A few photographs and a free video consultation are enough for a clear plan and an honest answer on suitability.
Beard Transplant Surgery in Cambridge with My Hair UK
A patchy or incomplete beard is one of the few cosmetic problems with a genuinely permanent fix. A beard transplant moves follicular units, one at a time, from the donor area at the back and sides of your scalp into the areas of your beard that need them. Donor hair is not affected by balding, so once the transplanted hairs grow in they are yours for good: shaved, trimmed and styled like the rest. The surgery is explained fully on our beard restoration and transplant page.
For Cambridge patients the practical shape of it is one free consultation, by video from home or in-person at the clinic, then a single day of surgery, because even full beard construction fits within one session. Everything is settled beforehand: the design, the graft plan and the fixed £2,899 price, all agreed with the surgeon before the day itself.
Whether you are a good candidate depends on your growth pattern and what you want to achieve. Patchy cheeks, thin sideburns and gaps around the chin respond well. If your patchiness appeared suddenly as smooth round spots, that can be alopecia barbae, which needs a diagnosis rather than a transplant, and the surgeon will tell you so plainly at consultation.
Beard Transplant Cost in Cambridge
£2,899 is the complete price of a beard transplant for Cambridge patients: one fixed, all-inclusive fee agreed in writing before surgery, whatever the number of grafts placed on the day. UK beard work is widely quoted anywhere from £3,000 to £7,000 depending on graft count, so a fixed fee at this level is deliberately competitive, and it means a bigger plan never carries a penalty.
The fee covers everything attached to the day itself: the surgeon and surgical team, anaesthetic, clinic facilities, aftercare products and your follow-up reviews. What the price includes and how it compares is set out in full on our beard transplant cost page.
How Much Does a Beard Transplant Cost in Cambridge?
Typical graft counts by area, with the fixed price alongside:
| Area | Typical Grafts | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Moustache | 400-500 | £2,899 |
| Sideburns | 200-300 each side | £2,899 |
| Goatee and chin | 600-700 | £2,899 |
| Cheeks | 300-600 each side | £2,899 |
| Full beard | 2,000-2,500 | £2,899 |
How a Beard Transplant Works
A beard transplant is a one-day procedure under local anaesthetic: design first, extraction second, placement third, home the same evening. The design is drawn on your face and agreed with you before surgery begins, because in beard work the outline is everything, and single-hair grafts are used along the edges so the result reads as grown rather than drawn on.
Beard hair also reads as full at a lower density than scalp work, around 25 to 40 grafts per square centimetre against the 40 a scalp hairline needs, which is why graft numbers that sound modest go a long way on the face. The safe ceiling is 3,500 grafts in a day, and even full beard construction sits comfortably inside a single day for most patients.
How Many Grafts Does a Beard Transplant Take?
As a guide, these are the graft ranges each beard area usually needs:
| Area | Typical Grafts |
|---|---|
| Sideburns | 200-300 each side |
| Moustache | 400-500 |
| Goatee and chin | 600-700 |
| Cheeks | 300-600 each side |
| Full beard | 2,000-2,500 |

Healing, Shaving and Results
Recovery is quicker than most patients expect. For the first few days the treated area shows a small scab at each graft with some redness, and the scabs lift over the first two weeks. The patient photographs in this section show it honestly: fine dotted scabbing the day after surgery, then the same beard at two weeks with the scabs cleared and only slight redness remaining. Do not shave the transplanted area for the first two weeks; after that it can be trimmed, and normal shaving usually resumes from around a month once the grafts are secure.
Between roughly week two and week eight the transplanted hairs shed. This is normal and it is not the grafts failing: the follicles stay in place, new growth starts at around three months, and the beard reaches its final density between nine and twelve months. We keep in touch through the regrowth period with regular monthly check-ins, and you have free follow-up consultations with your surgeon at 6 and 12 months, by video or in-person.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
1. How much does a beard transplant cost in Cambridge?
£2,899 for Cambridge patients, as a single fixed price whatever the number of grafts, up to the 3,500 that can safely be placed in one day. The price is agreed before surgery and nothing is added on the day.
2. Is there a beard transplant clinic in Cambridge?
Surgery for Cambridge patients is carried out at CQC-registered clinics in central Manchester and Harrow, north-west London, rather than in Cambridge itself. Because the procedure is completed in a single day, most patients treat it as one travel day, and everything before and after surgery can be handled by video from home, with the free consultation also available in-person at the clinic if you prefer.
3. Will the transplanted beard hair fall out again?
The transplanted hairs shed once, between roughly weeks two and eight after surgery, which is a normal part of the cycle. The follicles themselves stay in place, regrow from around three months, and are then permanent.
4. Where does the transplanted hair come from?
From the back and sides of your own scalp, extracted one follicular unit at a time. Hair from this area is a close match for beard hair in texture and growth.
5. When can I shave after a beard transplant?
Trimming is fine from two weeks, and a normal wet shave from around a month. Before that the grafts need to anchor, so the treated area is left alone for the first fortnight.
6. Are there any hidden costs with a beard transplant?
Not here. The £2,899 covers surgery, anaesthetic, clinic fees, aftercare products and follow-up reviews, and it is agreed in writing before surgery. The only cost on top is your own travel to the clinic.
7. What aftercare support do I get after a beard transplant?
Aftercare products and instructions on the day, regular monthly check-ins to make sure your growth is progressing, and free follow-up consultations with your surgeon at 6 and 12 months, by video or in-person. For Cambridge patients the routine contact all happens from home.
